The Schulte Group has teamed up with Treedom to plant the company’s very own forest.

Treedom is an online platform, which aims to fight the damaging effects of global deforestation since 2010. Anyone who visits the website can buy a tree sapling of their choice and, have a farmer plant it and follow the tree’s life cycle online.

The original idea stems from the very popular, online game Farmville, in which people planted and harvested their virtual trees and crops. Besides the rewarding feeling of planting and owning a living tree somewhere in Europe, South America, Africa or Asia, tree owners support local farmers with training and education on sustainable farming techniques, with the aid of local universities and research institutions. while increasing the global CO2 absorption.

The Schulte Group is committed to contribute to a more environmentally conscious future and has already donated USD 17,000 to Treedom, raised through the Group’s annual Step Challenge contest, which encourages their employees to get more physically active.

The Schulte Group Forest is located in Guatemala and will consist of coffee, lime, avocado, and chicozapote trees, among others. Each tree has a profile with a personal ID that details the tree’s characteristics, its uses and even its CO2 absorption.

Currently, 1,200 trees are growing in nurseries and will be planted to form the Group’s forest. The trees have been dedicated and will be gifted to the Group’s employees via a unique code. The goal over the next few years is to continue planting trees to grow the Schulte Group Forest. This can be achieved through the Schulte Group employees’ commitment, continued support and participation in upcoming sustainability-related events. Each step we take moves us closer to a brighter and healthier world.
